4 people wounded in Thursday shootings, 2 BPD officers injured apprehending suspects

Buffalo Police say two of their officers were injured apprehending suspects in a Thursday evening shooting.

It began just before 5:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Jewitt Avenue, near Fillmore Avenue.

Detectives say a 23-year-old Buffalo man was struck by gunfire. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center, where he was initially listed in serious condition.

Officers later did apprehend two suspects in a vehicle at Bailey Avenue and William Street, but police say at least one patrol car was involved in an accident doing so. Both of the injured officers were also treated at ECMC and released.

The suspects remain in custody and are being questioned.

Buffalo Police also are investigating a late-night shooting that injured at least 3 people. This one happened just after 11 p.m. Thursday night in the first block of Marigold Avenue, near Kensington Avenue.

Police say injuries to one of the individuals appear serious in nature. All three were transported to ECMC for treatment.
