Amherst questions practice of Town judge

Amherst Town Board members are questioning the continuation of Judge Mark Farrell's private law practice.

The Town promoted Farrell to a full-time judgeship with the understanding that he would close his private practice. Farrell claims there was a verbal agreement with Supervisor Barry Weinstein that he could maintain his private practice. Weinstein denies that contention.

An understanding appears now to exist that Farrell's current cases will not overlap with issues connected with the town.
