Body found in Amherst fire
Investigators say the remains of a body were found in the debris of an early Sunday morning fire in Amherst.
The fire at the eight-unit apartment building on Scamridge Curve broke out around 2am Sunday. Police were able to help most residents to evacuate the structure while firefighters used ladders to rescue two residents and a cat from upstairs apartments.
Officials have not released the victim's name or the cause of the fire.
The fire caused nearly $1 million in damage.
