Buffalo, NY – Author Lee Carlson knew what it was like to watch someone suffer with a traumatic brain injury. He was a care giver for his mother whose brain was injured so badly she never recovered. But only a few months after she died Carlson would learn first hand how a TBI can change a life forever. The Buffalo native was hit by a car and has spent the last eight years rebuilding his life - and his brain.
He's written a book about that journey to recovery called Passage to Nirvana: A Survivor's Zen Voyage. Carlson stopped by our studios to talk with WBFO's Joyce Kryszak about the painful and joyous process of healing. He said it began while he was still emerging from a coma.
