Trinity Place where standoff and shooting of Buffalo Police officer occurred

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Police Officer shot Monday during a standoff has been released from the hospital. John Garcia, 47, suffered injuries to his head and shoulder after being hit by pellets from a shotgun blast, fired by a gunman who was later found dead.
Police were called to 57 Trinity Place late Monday morning. SWAT and Hostage Management teams arrived after reports of gunfire from the house. Garcia, a 15-year veteran, arrived around 12:30pm and was shot from the second floor after identifying himself as a police officer as he walked up the driveway. When the SWAT team entered the building at 3:00, the gunman was found dead. He has yet to be identified and police have not said how he died.
The incident is being investigated by the department's homicide squad and internal affairs division.
