Buffalo, NY – Canisius College hosted a conversation with the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Roberts Tuesday evening.
It was an enlightening Q & A session in which the Chief Justice answered questions from students and faculty.
In a comfortable, engaging, and familiar style, Chief Justice John Roberts tried to satisfy people's curiosity as to how he and the Supreme Court do the judicial business of the people. One of the more modern topics that arose was that of recently appointed Justice Elena Kagan's support of broadcasting the court's oral arguments.
Roberts said the court moves very slowly in responding to technological change. He says he thinks it's a good thing for people to see what the court does, but he's also worried it will affect what they do.
While he's made no decision on live broadcasting, Roberts did cite that court's argument are now available online each week. That's an update from the once a year distribution they used to have.
