Buffalo, NY – A conversation on the future of energy was hosted by Western New York Congressman Chris Lee at UB's North Campus Monday.

Lee held his first advisory board meeting with stake holders from the energy industry. They represent area energy producers and alternative energy. Lee says they are offering expert advise to help develop policy solutions for lowering energy prices, creating jobs and cleaning up the environment.

And with hydro-electric power right here in Western New York's own backyard, Lee says it is time for this region to achieve energy independence. UB is participating in the energy discussions. Professor Harvey Stenger is dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. He says this is a very complicated issue that will requires a lot of time and thought.

UB is already researching alternative fuels and solar energy. Leaders says the end goal is to help the US lead new energy technologies.
