An Erie County Holding Center guard convicted of assaulting an inmate may soon be back on the job.
Thomas Thompson was sentenced Wednesday to eight months in a federal halfway house for his role in the physical punishment of an inmate in January of 2010.
According to The Buffalo News, by avoiding jail time, Thompson could be allowed to return to his job while living in the halfway house.
That decision will be made by Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard.
