Daughter Shares Sala's Gift with WNY

Amherst, NY – For nearly half a century, Sala Garncarz Kirschner carried the painful memories of the five years she spent in Nazi slave labor camps. That is until one day Sala handed a box of those memories over to her daughter. It contained 350 letters and mementos kept hidden by the 16-year old Jewish girl who was torn from her family in 1942. Her daughter, Ann Kirschner, shares the story of those personal and historic treasures in her book, Sala's Gift. An exhibit of the reproductions is at the Jewish Community Center in Amherst. WBFO's Joyce Kryszak talked with Kirschner about her mother's gift.
