Buffalo, NY – It appears that there may be more federal aid coming for snow cleanup efforts.
Congressman Thomas Reynolds, R-Clarence, says officals at the Federal Emergency Management Agency have agreed to lift current restrictions that limit reimbusements to expenses incurred only during a 48 hour period. FEMA officials say they need an application from Governor Pataki to grant a time extension.
Senators Charles Schumer, D-New York, and Hillary Clinton, D-New York, Congressman Jack Quinn, R-Hamburg, and Reynolds have been lobbying FEMA for additional aid. The estimated cost of the Buffalo area snow clean up is expected to reach 30 million dollars.
Meanwhile, Quinn has contacted the Small Business Administration to request its own disaster declaration to help local businesses cover their losses from the storm.
