Buffalo's Bhutanese Nepali community will hold a fundraising event Sunday night for earthquake relief. Nepal has been hit by massive and devastating earthquakes just weeks apart. Lamin Tamang is president of the local Bhutanese Nepali Community. Tamang tells WBFO News it is difficult to be in the US while many of their people are suffering.
"It's an awful situation for all of us living abroad in the United States, in different cities and in different states. And, our friends and families in different cities and states are also joining in. They are doing their best to raise funds and send it back to Nepal for the victims."
The Earthquake Relief Fund for Nepal will be held at Buffalo State's Campbell Student Union Hall. It runs from 5 PM to 8 PM. A suggested donation is ten dollars per person.
The event will feature a prayer and candlelight vigil for the quake victims and a moment of silence for those who died.
