A Mass of Christian burial was held this Friday for a popular Buffalo Catholic priest.  Mourners gathered at St. Margaret's Church in North Buffalo for Father Joseph Moreno.

More than 100 priests processed into the church.  Father Moreno was found dead last weekend  in the rectory of St. Lawrence Church. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The priest was well-known for reaching out to those in need.  He would often bring food to local law enforcement and firefighters on the scene of tragic events.

Father  Joseph Gullo,  pastor  at St. Mary in Arcade and Father Joseph Porpiglia, pastor at St. Benedicts in Eggertsville, were friends with Father Moreno's. All three attended  seminary together and they remembered his work.

"He always loved people.  He always reached out and brought the love of Christ to people where ever he met them."

"I know he would go to hospitals and visit people.  He always there for people."

Friday, in his honor, the Buffalo Fire Department stretched a huge American flag across Hertel Avenue at Colvin Avenue near the church.
