Buffalo, NY – The day before Ash Wednesday is traditionally known as Fat Tuesday or shrove Tuesday.
It is a day where many indulge in some special foods before the start of the Lenten season. One of the more popular items is paczki's. And one local bakery was busy making the polish treats on Monday.
At Mazurek's Bakery on South Park Avenue in Buffalo, making paczki, a polish donut, is a long standing tradition.
About 150 dozen have been baked to be sold to Western New Yorkers Tuesday. Chuck Mazurek is one of the bakers. He says at Mazurek's, the paczki's are made from scratch. Mazurek's creates a rich batter then fills them with raspberry jelly.
