Peter Iwanowicz has been tapped as executive director of the group, Environmental Advocates. He'll begin his new duties November 7th. Iwanowicz is best known for his promotion of clean air efforts in New York as assistant vice president of the American Lung Association.
In an interview on WBFO's Capitol Pressroom, Iwanowicz was critical of both state and federal representatives and their votes on environment issues.
"They're saying it's okay to have a dirtier environment. It's okay to allow Mid-West pollution to waft into our state," Iwanowicz said. "It seems like the public must become more engaged. That's what I intend to bring forward at Environmental Advocates."
Iwanowicz says he will intensify his focus on climate change.
