The Lancers have been working around the clock to gain custody of their three year old son Geoffrey since the devastating earthquake struck Haiti two weeks ago.

Late Monday night, the Lancers traveled to Miami where Geoffrey arrived in the U.S. on a private flight.

WBFO News spoke with Michael Lancer who is at an undisclosed, out of town location with his entire family.

"It is the greatest feeling," said Lancer.

But Lancer said even their final efforts to reunite with their new son was difficult.

"No step has been easy. Geoffrey and five other orphans, along with Barbara Walker, who runs the orphanage, got on a private small jet Monday night and there was not enough fuel to get to America.

When they left Haiti, they only had enough fuel to get them to a small island in the Bahamas. Lancer says from there, they had to land and beg and borrow to get enough fuel to get them to Miami.

Lancer says Geoffrey seems to be adapting well. They are also making sure he receives proper medical attention. Lancer says his new son has some health concerns "they want to make sure are adequately addressed."

The Lancers say they are now trying to take a quiet family vacation with Geoffrey and their two teenage children. They are expected to be home in the next couple of days.
