McCarthy discusses local and national politics on Morning Edition

Oct 3, 2012

A nation "curious about Mitt Romney," says Buffalo News Political Reporter Bob McCarthy, could draw an estimated 50 million viewers for tonight's Presidential debate.

As polls show President Barack Obama inching his way to a solid lead, McCarthy believes voters still want to see Romney's debate performances before they make their final decision on Election Day.

A veteran of many debate panels (including the 27th district Congressional debate on WBFO and WNED-TV on October 16th), McCarthy says, if presented the opportunity, he would ask tonight's candidates how they would get Washington's fractious political parties to agree on divisive issues like health care, the deficit and taxes.

Bob McCarthy will be talking politics every Wednesday through the election during Morning Edition on WBFO and AM970.

Besides the Presidential debate, today McCarthy analyzed the Collins-Hochul Congressional race and examined the near-dysfunctional state of the Erie County Democratic Party.

A recording of that conversation is available here.
