Music Notes: Pacifica Quartet
A noted string quartet performs at Kleinhans Music Hall.
By Bill Raffel, WBFO
Buffalo, NY – The Pacifica Quartet makes the journey from Lincoln Center to Kleinhans Music Hall. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.
The Pacifica Quartet has been together for almost ten years now. And a highlight has been this recording of works by Dvorak. The group will feature another Dvorak quartet as part of its recital tomorrow at eight in Kleinhans, sponsored by the Buffalo Chamber Music Society.
Even though most members of the quartet were born in this country, Violinist Sibbi Berhnhardsson says they're a real melting pot.
See the Pacifica Quartet perform these Quartets by Dvorak and Carter, plus Mozarts Adagio and Fugue in C Minor tomorrow (Tuesday, 1/13) at 8 p.m. in Kleinhans, with a pre-concert talk at 7:15 p.m.
Also this week, the Buffalo Gay Mens Chorus presents its annual winter concert Friday (1/16) and Saturday (1/17) nights at 8 p.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (http://www.holytrinitybuffalo.org) on Main Street near North.
And the Western New York Chorale gives the final performance of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh: Music for a Time After Christmas, Sunday (1/18) at 5 p.m. in Saint Joseph's University Church further up Main Street, near the UB South Campus.
