Muslim groups among those planning 9/11 memorials Sunday

Buffalo, NY – On Monday morning, WBFO will continue its local coverage of 9/11, ten years later, with a report on how the event affected the local Muslim community both then and now. In the meantime, two local Muslim organizations are inviting the public to events Sunday that will remember the victims of 9/11 and create dialogue among people of different faiths.

At 12:30pm Sunday in the Millennium Hotel in Cheektowaga, the Women's Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Buffalo will host a panel discussion on moralirt and spirituality featuring four women of different faith backgrounds. Admission to the event is free but registration is recommended by calling 982-7386.

Beginning at 5:00pm Sunday, the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Western New York will host a 9/11 memorial at the Jaffarya Center of the Niagara Frontier, 10300 Transit Road in Amherst. Invited guests include Muslim and non-Muslim leaders. The memorial will remember the nearly 3,000 people (including 30 Muslims) murdered by al Qaeda terrorists as well as honor first responders and other heroes of that day.

These events are, of course, just two of many 9/11 memorials scheduled to take place to mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
