Paladino testified he did “regret” comments about Obamas

The hearing for Buffalo School Board member Carl Paladino is expected to wrap up Wednesday in Albany.  The school board is trying to remove Paladino for violating executive session rules. But the issue of his controversial Artvoice article, containing racist remarks against the Obamas last December, took center stage Tuesday.  Paladino testified he does "regret" making those remarks.  WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley spoke with our Albany correspondent Karen DeWitt who was in the hearing room for Paladino's testimony Tuesday.

The Paladino hearing resumed Wednesday morning at the State Education building in Albany. Both sides are delivering their closing arguments.

State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia will be making a written statement, but at a later date.

At the star of Wednesday's hearing Commissioner Elia announced closing briefs are due July 12th and replies from the other parties by July 19.

"The parties will have the opportunity to file closing briefs in this matter.  Sometime after the briefs are filed, Commissioner Elia will render her decision. We don't have a firm time frame for that," wrote Emily DeSantis, Assistant Commissioner for Public Affairs at NYSED, in an email to WBFO.
