Investigators with Lewiston and state police believe more people may have suffered at the hands of Iver "Jay" Phallen and they're asking for the public's help.
Phallen was arrested Saturday for allegedly kidnapping and torturing a Buffalo woman in his Carriage Lane home. Lewiston Police Sergeant Frank Previte says if more people come forward, it could reveal of pattern of behavior.
"The more numbers that we get not only helps with our investigation and ultimately finding justice in this case for our victims, but I think it helps the victims, as well, to know that 'Hey, I'm not the only one,'" Previte said at a news conference Thursday afternoon.
Police say since the 67-year-old Lewiston businessman's arrest, other women have come forward to report similar incidents with Phallen. They say he may also have male victims.
Phallen was arrested Saturday after a woman from Buffalo told police she was tortured at the man's home over the course of two days. She said Phallen told her that he had done the same to others.
Phallen is being held in the Niagara County Jail. He is charged with several felonies, including aggravated sexual abuse and first degree kidnapping.
