Buffalo, NY – A large and vocal crowd gathered in Lafayette Square yesterday afternoon to support the local library system and to protest the four million dollars in budget cuts to the system that have been proposed in the new County Budget.
The cuts are not expected to close any of the remaining library branches, but the financial pinch will cost jobs and directly affect services, as explained by Tim Galvin, President of the Librarian's Association.

Members of the County Legislature were on hand to speak out against the cuts as was Common Council member Michael Kearns.
A public hearing on the budget will be held on Wednesday night at five o'clock in the chambers of the Erie County Legislature.
