Questions hang over death of Holding Center inmate
The investigation by the Erie County Sheriff's Department into the death of a man held in custody continues.
Police collared 35-year-old Richard Metcalf in Depew on Tuesday, charging him with burglary. He was transported to ECMC for medical concerns before returning to the Erie County Holding Center. An apparent medical emergency occurred while Metcalf was being taken back to ECMC on Wednesday for a mental health evaluation. He died on Friday.
No word on the cause of death has been made available.
