By Eileen Buckley & Ashley Hassett
Buffalo, NY – The man known as the City Grill shooter was sentenced to life without parole on multiply murder charges Thursday morning in Erie County Court.
Riccardo McCray was sentenced to life without parole on three first degree murder counts as he appeared before County Court Judge Sheila DiTullio.
McCray received 25 years to life on the attempted murder charges. The sentences will run consecutively.
McCray was convicted of gunning down eight people, killing four last August 14, 2010 outside the City Grill on Main Street in downtown's business district.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita is pushing for the maximum of 20-years to life in prison for McCray. McCray has continued to maintain his innocence. But on city streets, he was known by his nick-name "Murder Matt".
McCray had a record and history of some arrests on gun charges. McCray just married the mother of his child from prison.
