Richardson Center Corp. Receives $7.8 Million More for Stabilization

Buffalo, NY – The Richardson Center Corporation has received an additional $7.8 million from the state to stabilize the historic Richardson complex on Elmwood Avenue.

The announcement was made Thursday night as the group working on the restoration of the landmark held another public meeting on its plans for a visitors center, architecture museum, boutique hotel and more. But Richardson Center Corporation director Christopher Greene says the immediate priority continues to be stabilizing the complex.

The new allocation of funding will be added to about $2 million previously received for stabilization. Greene says they have fixed collapsed ceilings and repaired damaging leaks. Starting next spring that work will be stepped up to include electrical improvements and asbestos abatement.

Thursday night, the public was asked to address some of the environmental issues involving the Richardson project. Because of the holidays, the public comment period has been extended to January 15th. More details are available at the website, www.richardson-olmsted.com.
