Fillmore District Common Council Member David Franczyk said he's happy about money going into the continuing effort to keep the baseball stadium in good shape for a variety of events.

"I'm a big supporter of that," said Franczyk.

"I think it's important that this facility continues to be an attraction for people from all wider Western New York, which gives a us a medium-sized city that we have things that people want to see and do and recreate and have fun."

About a million dollars is heading to Johnnie B. Wiley, some of which will go toward an elevator to improve access inside the surviving gatehouse of the old stadium.

Common Council President Darius Pridgen said Johnnie B. Wiley is heavily used, especially the sports fields which are used just about any time there isn't snow on the ground.
