Suspicious note found on flight from Buffalo
A U.S. Airways flight from Buffalo to Charlotte, North Carolina was delayed for almost two hours Monday afternoon. The plane landed at 1:40p.m. after flight 2045 crew members reported a security concern.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport Officials say a threatening note was found aboard the plane, but no details were released as to what was written.
Spokesperson for U.S. Airways Liz Landau said once the plane landed it was taxied to a remote area away from the terminal to be investigated by law enforcement.
“The aircraft was checked, cleared, and returned to the terminal with all passengers. We have been working to re-accommodate all of our customers who missed their connecting flights on the next flight,” said Landau.
Airport Officials say the investigation didn't cause problems or delays for other flights. There were 124 passengers and 5 crew members aboard the flight.
The FBI released the below statement in response to the incident:
"Federal and local law enforcement agencies have cleared the scene at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. At this time, there are no indications there was a threat to public safety. The FBI conducted several interviews, the investigation is ongoing, but it does not appear at this time that a federal violation was committed. No additional details involving the investigation will be released."
