This year's Taste of Buffalo will be bigger than ever, with the festival expanding northward up Delaware Avenue, past Chippewa Street.

Officials and sponsors on Wednesday gave a preview of the 35th Taste, which takes place next weekend, July 7 and 8.

Between the new endpoint and Niagara Square, more than 50 vendors will have more than 200 items for sale in an event that bills itself as "the nation’s largest annual two-day food festival."

“It is such a key event for Buffalo and we want to be a part of it. It’s a signature event for us as well,” said John Persons, president and chief operating officer of Tops Markets.

The festival also includes wineries, live music, and family-friendly entertainment. For beer drinkers, this year's Taste even features an official beer, a special edition homebrew called "Cheers to 35 Years Kellerbier" that is being brewed by 12 Gates Brewing Co.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to attend the two-day festival. Taste of Buffalo chairman Richard McDermott says it's an event not to be missed.

"This year’s food is going to be amazing. Just come down and have fun, enjoy the entertainment and take part in some of the sampling,” encouraged McDermott.
