If you have a date in downtown court, you are advised to double-check the court schedule upon arrival.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says a water line break on the fourth floor of 25 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo has caused extensive damage to the courtrooms on three floors. The Department of Public Works is cleaning up and evaluating how much damage occurred.
The New York State Unified Court System says a total of eight courtrooms were flooded on the north side of the building. No cases have been adjourned due to this.
However, judges' court calendars have been relocated to courtrooms that were not in use. Signage will be posted daily by the elevators to advice attorneys, litigants and members of the public if their courtroom has changed.
It is anticipated that a number of the courtrooms will be unusable over the next several weeks. Courtrooms affected include Parts 8, 9, 13, 14, 18, 19, 23 and 24.
