Weekend respite will be followed by stormy start to week
After another night of bitter cold temperatures and sub-zero wind chills, milder temperatures will arrive Saturday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a sunny sky Saturday with a high in the low 30s. But the respite from severe winter weather will be short-lived.
Meteorologist Dave Zaff says another cold front will bring frigid air back to the area early next week, along with lake effect snow. There is a lake effect snow watch for Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Wyoming and Genesee Counties from early Monday morning through late Tuesday.
Zaff says the lake snows will be accompanied by strong winds, which will cause blowing and drifting snow, creating difficult driving conditions. Tuesday's high will be zero to five above. Wind chills will be well below zero.
