For many, the college application process may be a little easier this year because the Internal Revenue Service has again switched on its computer program allowing income tax records to be meshed into college financial aid applications.

A lot of New York residents want to take advantage of the Excelsior scholarship for public colleges and universities in the state. However, with Gov. Andrew Cuomo talking about a $4 billion budget deficit, there might be a fight over money for the next three years.

Admitting that enrollment is down and that they're facing competition from other local colleges and New York State's Excelsior tuition program, Canisius College is lowering its cost for full-time undergraduates next academic year.

Governor Kathy Hochul is working to promote Governor Cuomo's college tuition-free plan for New Yorkers. Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to make public colleges and universities in the state tuition-free for eligible students. Cuomo made the announcement Tuesday at LaGuardia Community College in Queens.
