The newly-redrawn 27th congressional district will make it more difficult for incumbent Democrat Kathy Hochul to win re-election this year.  And two area towns are exploring a job sharing arrangement to reduce costs.

WBFO and AM 970's Mark Scott touches on these and other topics in this week's Press Pass with Buffalo News Suburban Editor Bruce Andriatch.

A Vietnam war veteran shares his story after years of serving his country. Sergeant Ted Wilkinson shared his story from serving in the Vietnam war with Congresswoman Kathy Hochul Thursday.

His story is the first of many that will be recorded each month with the Congresswoman as apart of the Veterans History Project.

The project is in an effort to make future generations aware of the realities of war from personal experience.

Hochul said the project gives those who have served our country the recognition they deserve.

Congresswoman Kathy Hochul has introduced legislation that will enhance 9-1-1 communications systems.

The bill is known by the acronym, ALERT ACT, which stands for Allowing Local Emergency Response Technicians to Accept Cellular Texts Act. Hochul's action would require emergency call centers update their handling of emergency text messages and to send an error message if the transmission did not go through.

The FCC would enforce the mandates.
