Amherst Police are investigating the suspicious death of a young girl who was found unresponsive this past weekend in an apartment on Allenhurst Road.

Local law enforcement has apparently made the first dent in suppressing a string of bank robberies across Erie and Niagara counties.

Just hours after the New Year began a Buffalo woman was shot to death. Homicide Detectives say a 25-year-old female victim was riding in a Chrysler Pacifica headed northbound on Michigan Avenue, towards Genesee Street just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday when she was struck by gunfire.

With concerns that hate crimes could be on the rise in New York, the State Comptroller's office is now conducting an audit on the reporting of the crime. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley says comptroller Thomas DiNapoli wants to make sure hate crimes are being reported.

Buffalo is one of five pilot courts programs in New York State that provides an Adolescent Diversion Program to prevent teens from becoming repeat criminals.
