A drug pipeline that fed Western New York is out of business. Federal, state and local law enforcement arrested 20 suspects in Buffalo and Lockport Thursday in a bust named Operation Rolling Thunder.

Former New York Senate leader Dean Skelos was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay more than $800,000 in restitution and fines Thursday after his conviction on corruption charges. His son Adam got six-and-a-half years.

Federal investigators announced Tuesday that a Clarence resident has been indicted for the alleged issuing of hundreds of thousands of illegal opioid prescriptions.

A Depew woman has been sentenced to  1-1/3 to four years in state prison in the drugged-driving death of 72-year-old Carol Dion, also of Depew. Sarah Skotnicki, 26, also will have her driver's license suspended for a year after her prison term for criminally negligent homicide.
