Victims of domestic abuse have to confront a wide range of emotions when they seek help. And those emotions can intensify when they take the first steps to prosecute an abuser. But Buffalo-area groups like the Family Justice Center can provide support. WBFO’s Nancy Fischer has more about the center and its expansion plans.

A state bill, if signed into law, could protect more domestic violence victims from dying at the hands of their abusers. The bill was inspired by a local woman who was murdered in 2012.

A roundtable discussion about domestic violence prevention took place in downtown Buffalo Friday. The meeting was hosted by Senator Mark Grisanti and the Family Justice Center of Buffalo.

The Family Justice Center of Buffalo officially opened its new Williamsville satellite office Monday to reach domestic violence victims in the Northtowns.  WBFO'S Eileen Buckley says the new safe haven will provide shelter for women and children seeking protection from an abusive situation.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Family Justice Center of Buffalo hosts its annual Mosaic fundraising event in downtown Buffalo Thursday evening. Next month the organization will be opening another satellite home in the Northtowns.
