All 76 Buffalo school nurses have to find new assignments this summer. As employees of Kaleida Health, their assignments in Buffalo Public Schools is ending. The Buffalo School Board Wednesday night voted to replace them with cheaper, non-union nurses from two staffing agencies.


Kaleida agrees to new labor contract

A strike by unionized health-care workers at Kaleida Health has been averted after the two sides reached a tentative contract agreement early Thursday morning.  The proposed three year contract  includes three unions representing more than 7,300 workers.

While most Western New Yorkers were still heading into work to start their day, members of the City of Buffalo's Planning Board hosted a public comment session regarding a plan to relocate Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo from Bryant Street into a new facility on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

Only one speaker stepped forward, expressing concern for air traffic to and from the new hospital.  It seemed a far cry from the public resistance a decade ago to plans then to move the hospital.
