There is a new book that helps direct parents and children how to sing. WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley says the author is Nickel City Opera Founder and artistic director Valerian Ruminski.

An important slice of Buffalo history will be staged at Shea's Performing Arts Center Friday evening.  A brand new opera called 'SHOT!' will be performed by Nickel City Opera. It tells the story of the 1901-assassination of President William McKinley. WBFO's Senior Reporter Eileen Buckley talked with Nickel City Founder and national opera star Valerian Ruminski. He explains how the show was written by world-renowned, award-winning composer Persis Vehar. 

We have one opening this weekend: Nickel City Opera presents THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, the story of the lecherous Count, the innocent Susanna, the wily Figaro, and the long suffering Countess. It’s at the Riviera Theatre, in a full production with professional singers and orchestra, Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

One of the more popular operas is being performed this weekend at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda.  Nickel City Opera will stage Mozart's masterpiece  The Marriage of Figaro.  WBFO'S Eileen Buckley had a chance to attend a rehearsal where the stars of this opera were gearing up for performances Friday and Sunday. 

FUN HOME, the first Broadway musical with a lesbian protagonist, swept five Tony Awards this past Sunday in the musical category.

Nickel City Opera is celebrating its 5th anniversary season and opens this Friday with Don Pasquale. The full opera comedy will be performed at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda. WBFO's Eileen Buckley talked with Valerian Ruminski about performing the lead in this opera.
