All this week, state and local law enforcement will increase patrols near high schools as part of a statewide campaign to limit the impacts of impaired and distracted driving as prom and graduation season approach.

Recalling a deadly accident in snowy weather on the New York State Thruway near Buffalo in early January, Senator Charles Schumer urged federal lawmakers Tuesday to pass new truck safety standards including mandatory underride guards on the rear and sides of every tractor-trailer.

The Department of Transportation released its revised guidelines on automated driving systems Tuesday, outlining its recommended — but not mandatory — best practices for companies developing self-driving cars.

Speeders in the city of Buffalo beware.  Mayor Byron Brown is responding to residential complaints about speeding throughout the city.

The city of Buffalo is putting measures in place to help drivers safely navigate Gates Circle. The action follows several direct crashes which have left the stonework around the circle heavily damaged.

While police say they're always looking out for those who drive while impaired, they're stepping up efforts from now through September 7 in an end-of-summer "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.
