"Move Day" began at 7 a.m. Friday for the staff and patients of Women & Children's Hospital, as they take the 1.2 mile journey to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and settle into their new home at the Oishei Children's Hospital. Follow this page for updates throughout the day.

A new chapter is about to begin for Buffalo’s medical community, as staff at Women and Children’s Hospital close out 125 years of welcoming newborns into the world and treating sick kids. Plans to move to the new Oishei Children’s Hospital have been in the works for years, but as they come to fruition, hospital staff are having an emotional time saying goodbye.

The push is on for approval of a helipad atop the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital at the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus but, before construction, the pad needs to be signed off by local, state, and federal officials.

Now that Kaleida Health broke ground on the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital on Ellicott Street Wednesday, many wonder what will become of the current Bryant Street site.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Wednesday for the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital. The $270 million facility will replace Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo on Bryant Street.

Enterovirus D68 cases confirmed in Erie County

Fourteen case of Enterovirus D68 have been confirmed in Erie County. The Erie County Health Department announced Monday that they're still testing others for the illness. The respiratory virus has been present in region since August.

While most Western New Yorkers were still heading into work to start their day, members of the City of Buffalo's Planning Board hosted a public comment session regarding a plan to relocate Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo from Bryant Street into a new facility on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

Only one speaker stepped forward, expressing concern for air traffic to and from the new hospital.  It seemed a far cry from the public resistance a decade ago to plans then to move the hospital.
