3 WNY counties each record their first coronavirus death

Allegany, Chautauqua and Genesee counties have each reported their first COVID-19 death.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services reported that its death was a man in his 80s who underwent testing and treatment at a hospital in Erie Pennsylvania.

There are eight confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the county, with seven others recovering at home, 21 individuals are in mandatory quarantine, 32 others are in precautionary quarantine and 18 more are in mandatory isolation. So far, 98 tests have come back negative.

The Allegany County Department of Health released only that the individual who died there was over 60 years old and had other health conditions, which could have compromised recovery.

In Genesee County, the death was announced in a brief statement. Paul Pettit, director of the Genesee and Orleans County Health Departments would only say that the individual was over 65 years of age and had underlying health conditions.
