4 local companies expanding, creating nearly 600 new jobs

The New York Power Authority has approved four economic development awards it said will spur $356 million in private capital investments across Western New York, with the creation of 583 jobs.

The NYPA said 11,650 kilowatts of low-cost hydroelectric power from its Niagara Power Project in Lewiston will be awarded to Stavatti Aerospace, an aircrat manufacturer at Niagara Falls International Airport, and Trek, an electrical engineering a manufacturing firm in Lockport.

In Erie County, the power allocations will go to Life Technologies, a pharmaceutical supplier on Grand Island, and Sucro Real Estate, a sugar refinery in Lackawanna.

All companies will be creating or expanding facilities and hiring new workers.
