911 caller charged with falsely reporting incident that led to crash

A Buffalo man has been arraigned on a felony count of first-degree falsely reporting an incident.

William Gray, 59, is supected of calling 911 to report an incident of a person with a knife on Wyoming Avenue in the early afternoon of April 15.

The April 15 crash at Main Street and Benwood Avenue left a female pedestrian in critical condition.

A Buffalo police officer was responding to the high-priority call with lights flashing on his patrol vehicle when he collided with another vehicle on Main Street near Benwood Avenue.

Two pedestrians were injured as a result of the crash, and one is still hospitalized with serious injuries. The officer and two occupants of the other vehicle were also treated for injuries.

Gray is scheduled to return to court on June 26 for a felony hearing. He faces a maximum of seven years in prison, if convicted.
