Boy dies after car/bike accident in Tonawanda

A 12-year-old boy has died after bystanders lifted a car off him Thursday evening in the Town of Tonawanda.

The unidentified boy became pinned under the car after his bicycle was struck shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. The motorist was turning at the intersection of Sheridan Drive and Delaware Road when the accident occurred.

The boy was hospitalized with what were called life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to those injuries Friday morning. 

Witnesses began lifting the car after the accident occurred and one man pulled the boy from beneath the vehicle. 

No charges have been filed against the driver, who police say was not at fault. The motorist was
