Buffalo native John Maggiore has been been promoted to Senior Advisor to the Governor in the latest round of administration appointments.

Maggiore will oversee upstate economic development and intergovernmental affairs during the Governor's third term. He'll work with Empire State Development in the role.

Maggiore was most recently the state's Director of Policy, but previously served as Director of Communications to former Buffalo State College President Muriel Howard. In 2005, he ran the Erie County Stabilization Project for the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.

Maggiore began his career as a confidential assistant to the Governor's father, former Governor Mario Cuomo.
