A Buffalo teen is facing life in prison for murdering one teen and injuring two others.
After a bench trial in Erie County Court in November, Josue Bermudez, 19, was convicted Wednesday of murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a shooting Mar. 8 on St. Lawrence Avenue in North Buffalo.
Deron Allen, 17, was killed and two 16-year-olds were wounded. About 50 or 60 people were at the nearby North Buffalo Community Center on Sanders Road at the time of the shooting.
According to the Erie County District Attorney's Office, the victims and perpetrator were apparently known to each other, and the shooting was believed to be a result of gang violence.
Defense attorney Frank Bogulski said his client maintains his innocence, that there were legal errors in the trial and that he plans to appeal.
Bermudez faces a maximum of 75 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 29. He remains held without bail.
