Clymer superintendent found dead in apparent homicide

The superintendent of the Clymer School District in Chautauqua County has been found dead outside of his home, the victim of an apparent homicide.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies discovered 51-year-old Keith Reed at his residence on Clymer-Sherman Road with gunshot wounds this morning.  Reed lived alone and hadn't been heard from him since Friday night.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace says Reed was reported missing by friends Sunday night.

"Deputies came to the home and were unable to locate him. We returned to the home this morning and one of our K9 deputies discovered the victim outside of the residence," said Gerace.

"We believe he died of multiple gunshot wounds, however we can't confirm that until the autopsy is complete."

Gerace had no information about possible suspects or weapons. He is asking anyone with information that could assist in their investigation to contact the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department.

"This is an unusual occurrence for this area. I'm sure it's shocking to the community. Our hearts and prayers go out to the surviving family," Gerace said.

The district has canceled several events tonight, including a school board meeting and a girls' volleyball game.  Reed had worked as Clymer superintendent since November of last year.
