Coast Guard followed Occupy Buffalo activities

Local Coast Guard officials were tasked with watching the activities of last winter's Occupy Buffalo protests.

According to The Buffalo News, attorneys for the protesters learned of the monitoring operations through documents obtained through a Freedom of Information request.

In response, Coast Guard officials say the monitoring took place to ensure there was no threat to the local port.

Officials were keeping watch in Buffalo after Occupy Oakland protesters disrupted port operations in California

With a few exceptions, Occupy Buffalo protests in Niagara Square were orderly and law-abiding.
