Reed was scheduled to give a television interview for Fox News when he collapsed in the Cannon Office Building Rotunda.

According to Samantha-Jo Roth of Spectrum News, Reed appeared unconscious for about 30 seconds but then regained consciousness and declared, "I'm back."

WBFO spoke with Will Reinert, Reed's communications officer, who advised us his boss was conscious and alert, speaking and being checked out by medical personnel.

Reinert later issued the following statement: "Tom is in good condition, responsive, and being checked out by medical personnel following today's fall."

He would not offer any possible reasons for Reed's collapse, expressing that he didn't want to speculate.

Reed represents New York's 23rd Congressional District, which covers much of the region's southern tier.
