Tom Golisano will not be the next owner of the Buffalo Bills. According to the Associated Press, the former owner of the Buffalo Sabres will not be making a bid on the NFL franchise.
Several people close to discussions tell the Associated Press on condition of anonymity that at least three groups have entered final negotiations to buy the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula, real estate mogul Donald Trump and a Toronto-based group that includes rocker Jon Bon Jovi have received formal documents in advance of a bid deadline on Monday.
The people spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the sale is being conducted privately.
Two other people familiar with the process say former Golisano is not prepared to submit a bid.
The law firm representing late Bills owner Ralph Wilson's estate distributed what are called purchase agreements. The agreements are binding documents that require groups to submit a bid, and establish the terms and conditions of a potential sale.
