Convicted sex offender and former Buffalo concert promoter and Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is scheduled to appear virtually before an Erie County Court judge Friday morning.
Harvey Weinstein is serving a 23 year sentence for his criminal sexual assault and rape conviction in Manhattan. But he still faces further sexual assault charges in Los Angeles and prosecutors there wants him extradited.
Weinstein is currently held in Wende Correctional Facility and because he's within Erie County, the first step in his extradition hearing process goes before Erie County Judge Kenneth Case that is scheduled for late Friday morning.
Weinstein rose up in the entertainment industry as a concert promoter in Buffalo in the 1970s. Partnering with his brother Bob and with Corky Burger to form Harvey and Corky.
The Weinstein brothers used money from that venture to form the film company Miramax. More than 100 women have accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct against them.
