Buffalo, NY – The Hauptman Woodward Medical Research Institute has successfully recruited a new CEO from one of the nation's leading research institutions.
Dr. Eaton Lattman was introduced at a news conference at the Institute's new headquarters on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Lattman is an internationally renowned scientist and dean of research and graduate education at Johns Hopkins University. Nobel Laureate, Dr. Herbert Hauptman welcomed Lattman, describing him as a great thinker and hands-on mentor.
Landing a Johns Hopkins scientist was a major coup for the fledgling Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. University at Buffalo Vice President for Health Sciences, David Dunn, said he hopes this puts to rest the notion that top flight talent won't come to Buffalo.
Lattman was part of the expansion of Johns Hopkins in East Baltimore. Officials here hope they can tap into his knowledge of that as they expand the local campus. Lattman says he would support such growth.
Lattman succeeds George Detitta, who is giving up his duties as CEO to concentrate on his scientific research. Lattman will begin on July 1st.
